25 Apr Powerhouse Hagens Berman Axeon Joins Forces with the Wahoo Team
Wahoo just added a behemoth to our growing list of professional cycling team sponsorships by partnering with Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team.
Now in its tenth season of professional cycling development, the Axeon family is already a World Tour Pro creating team, sending 26 riders to WorldTour teams over the past decade. With Wahoo devices such as the ELEMNT BOLT GPS head unit,TICKR Heart Rate Monitor and the KICKR SNAP Indoor Trainer Axeon athletes are poised to perform at even higher levels in 2018.
Team owner and director Axel Merckx, former Belgian National Champion, recognizes that Axeon’s success “would not be possible without the support of industry-leading brands like Wahoo.”
We couldn’t agree more. By utilizing the ELEMNT BOLT GPS head unit, Axeon athletes will have the competitive edge of using the most aerodynamic cycling computer in the professional peloton. Designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), this device is proven to shave seconds off finishing times. For these cyclists in the upper echelons of their sport, every second counts.
The Axeon team will be equipped with our Bluetooth-enabled TICKR Heart Rate Monitor, which will provide key training metrics to inform the performance strategy of each team member.
“Since our program is all about developing the strengths of individual riders, we’re particularly excited to utilize Wahoo’s category-leading customization to tailor training metrics and ride data specific to each rider’s individual needs,”
Hagens Berman riders will also use the KICKR SNAP, the most realistic, connected wheel-on indoor trainer on the market today. The KICKR SNAP’s flywheel technology expertly simulates outdoor rides and has so many software training options, including Zwift and TrainerRoad, that riders will only miss the Belgian mud on their tires.
Designed to Dominate
Led by U23 Individual Time Trial World Champion Mikkel Bjerg, U23 United States Cyclocross National Champion Christopher Blevins, and William Barta, who finished on the podium at the 2017 U23 edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, the Axeon squad is already a force to be reckoned with at the World Tour level. Now with Wahoo devices in their arsenal, Axeon is on track to become more dominant than ever.
“For the better part of the last decade, some of the biggest names in domestic pro cycling have all come from the Axeon family.”
Chip Hawkins, CEO of Wahoo Fitness
“We’re proud to be able to offer the future of the sport with tried-and-tested gains from the Wahoo product ecosystem – gains which are already being recognized and leveraged at the World Tour level with our partnerships through Team Sky, BORA-Hansgrohe, and KATUSHA ALPECIN.”
Wahoo is excited about working with the Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team in 2018 and helping elevate the program to even higher heights- where can we take you?
